Where there’s a will, there’s a Hue.

I love the local cuisine. I especially love it when you’re eating it, literally, in someone’s kitchen or living room. Usually, I’m a “eat on my lap in front of the TV” kind of gal. But I’m not sure the restaurant owners would appreciate me slurping noodle soup in their ear whilst we’re watching Vietnam’s got talent. So, I sit on the children sized plastic chairs instead.

So, having explored Hue from the point of view of my stomach, it could only really get better by scooter.

TANK-fully I sustained no injuries!
The journey from Hue to Hoi An is made SO much better when you by jeep down the Hi Van Pass

It didn’t take me long to remember why I loved Hoi An the first time I was here. The town is beautiful, the lanterns (day & night) are a wonder, and I love cycling everywhere.

But the people, the people are incredible. They are so honest and cut throat, you actually have to value their integrity. Here are a few examples of their honesty;

  1. I thought I would treat myself to some ice cream, I mean it is 35°C! The lady who served me recommended I get the low sugar alternative as I need to be watching my figure.
  2. It’s been 10 weeks since I’ve had my hair cut, I desperately need a trim. The hairdresser told me that all my hair was rotten and proceeded to cut half of it off.
  3. Hoi An is the tailor capital of the world, so of course I had something made. (By something I mean a few things!) Whilst fitting me for my trousers, my seamstress slapped me on the bum and laughed at my “very big bottom.” Maybe I should stick to low sugar ice cream after all!
  4. My taxi driver who kindly took me to the airport was not only shocked to learn I was 26, but practically outraged to learn I was neither married nor had children. He suggested that I do something quickly about that!

Hoi An is also the place where I finally learnt to ride a scooter. How I’ve managed travelling around Asia just as a passenger this entire time ACTUALLY astounds me!

I can confirm neither the scooter or my instructor where harmed during this lesson.

If you were to ask me where my favourite place is in Asia, Hoi An wins hands down.

So what you still doing reading this?!
